Plant Insurance

Whether you hire your plant equipment from Central Plant Hire or any other plant hire company, you are responsible for any loss or damage to the equipment. This is standard within all hire contracts. However, this is not always made clear and it is important that you, the “hirer” is adequately covered for loss or damage to the “hired in” equipment.

Plant Hire Insurance for “hired in” plant equipment

As the “hirer” you are responsible for the equipment from delivery until returned or collected. The financial risk if, for example, a 1.5 tonne mini digger were stolen, would be anything up to £17,000, and a 3 tonne mini digger £32,000. Any on-site damage to the equipment, which is also the responsibility of the “hirer”, can be considerable.

Many “hirers” presume their liability policy or in the case of private hirers, their buildings and contents policy will cover “hired in” equipment that is stolen or damaged; they will not! Unless the hirer has “Hired in Plant Insurance” stated on their policy, they are not covered for any loss or damage.

As members of the HAE (Hire Association Europe), Central Plant Hire is able to offer HireSecure Loss and Damage Waiver to cover our equipment whilst on hire. For a small percentage of the net hire charges (15% + VAT) this waiver covers you against loss or damage from the moment you take possession of the equipment to the moment it is returned or collected by our transport. What Is A Loss & Damage Waive?

A Loss & Damage Waiver protects you in the event of damage or theft of the equipment you have hired. This is not an insurance product that you, the customer, purchase, but a contractual arrangement that removes your responsibility in the event of loss or damage to the hired equipment.

When you arrange a hire, if you have your own or wish to arrange your own hired in plant insurance, we will need to see a copy of the policy details prior to the hire. Alternatively, you will need to take our Loss & Damage Waiver, as all equipment must be covered for loss or damage whilst on hire.
